BUHLER — If McPherson’s Junior American Legion baseball team is to make state, it’s going to have to do it the hard way.

Post 24 made a monster comeback Thursday against Great Bend, only to come up short 11-9. Great Bend thus advanced to the championship game and will await the team that emerges from the loser’s bracket.

The game featured a 4 1/2 hour delay for rain and lightning and didn’t finish up until 10:45.

McPherson plays the 5:00 game today against the winner of Pratt and Buhler.

Post 24 got off to a disastrous start, trailing 9-0 after 2 1/2 innings. It was still 11-4 going into the final inning before McPherson made a spirited rally with five runs to put a scare into the Braves.
