OMAHA, Neb. — McPherson College’s volleyball team bounced back from a gut-wrenching loss to Saint Mary on Wednesday to win a pair of non-conference road matches in the College of St. Mary-Grace Invitational.
The Bulldogs blanked Dakota State, 3-0. Mac won by scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-21 behind 14 kills by Lexi Kite, who for the first time this season didn’t have a double-double. Morgan Little and Kailyn Heines were a 1-2 passing punch with 21 and 16 assists, respectively. Jaime Siess led in digs with 13.
The Bulldogs then improved to 4-2 on the season with another 3-0 win, this time over Presentation College. The wins came in quick fashion, 25-14, 25-20 and 25-21.
Leia Seiler and Mady Woog were tops in kills with 10 apiece. Little and Heinis both had 18 assists and Siess had 18 digs.
“Getting a pair of sweeps today was a great way to bounce back after the Saint Mary loss," Mac coach Jessica Cleveland said. "Our energy was great on the court and bench. Bree Wallace and Lexi Kite led us in the Dakota State match, while Leia Seiler was our leader against Presentation. [Jamie] Siess did a great job digging hard, tall hitters. We finally found our rhythm and it's fun to sit back and relax as a coach as the team begins to embody McPherson College volleyball.”
The Bulldogs have two more matches today, taking on Mayville State and Briar Cliff University.
