HILLSBORO — It was the volleyball rematch everybody had been waiting for.
Once-beaten Hesston got its shot at undefeated and No. 1-ranked Kingman on Tuesday in the Hillsboro triangular as the Swathers were seeking to avenge their only loss of the year, which came in the Central Kansas League preseason event.
They won the first set 25-17, but the Eagles held off Hesston 26-24 in the second set, then won the decider 25-18.
Hesston swamped Hillsboro 25-15, 25-18 in its other match.
The Swathers are now 17-2 overall and the loss was their first in the Central Kansas League, where they are 6-1.
Kailey Jo Ince had a monster night for Hesston with 34 kills and Alaina Dunlavy was on fire as she piled up 65 assists. Dunlavy also had 19 digs, while Elise Kaiser had 18.
Hesston has its annual “Dig Pink Night” on Tuesday against Hoisington.
