SALINA — McPherson’s seventh-grade football team, with much of its line missing because of injuries, lost a 22-6 verdict to Salina Lakewood on Thursday.
MMS is now 3-2 on the season after opening the year 3-0.
“Salina Lakewood ended up being a tough matchup for us,” MMS coach Brandt Busse said. “We had some injuries on our line that made it difficult for us to get any push up front. The guys played hard, but the line for Lakewood was just overpowering. We as a coaching staff are proud of our guys to continue to fight all the way through the end of the game.”
Hunter Alvord’s 13-yard TD pass to Jayton Gumm acounted for the lone Bullpup score.
