It didn’t get any better for Hays on Monday when it took on McPherson High in a combined JV-9th-grade football game at McPherson Stadium since the Indians didn’t have enough players for two games.
Coming off a 48-6 loss last Friday in the varsity game, Hays was overwhelmed 52-0.
“Overall, pleased with the dominating win for our guys,” MHS coach Heath Gerstner said. “Our freshmen and sophomores have been so awesome dealing with these freshmen-sophomore games instead of a normal freshman game and JV game. In reality, those guys lose reps and have to share game action a bit. They could easily be selfish, but they are all truly selfless and just love football. They are practicing hard week in and week out and progress is evident.”
Gerstner said the Bullpups ruled on both sides of the ball and said they’ll be excited next week when there will be two separate games.
MHS led 28-0 at the half as Jakob Feil ran for three scores and Neill Raymond had one. In the second half, Raymond had another touchdown while Brycen Labertew and Aaron Powell also scored.
Raymond also had two scoring conversions as did Jonah Clarke. Powell added the other.
