WAMEGO – It was a sweep for McPherson High’s football teams in games with Wamego on Monday.
The MHS JVs were an 18-6 winner behind a pair of scores by Jakob Feil and a touchdown by Tyson Gottwald.
The MHS freshmen were a 40-0 winner. Aaron Powell scored three times, while Neill Raymond and Brycen Labertew also scored. The final touchdown was not available.
“Really pleased with the effort our guys had in both games,” MHS coach Heath Gerstner said. “JV really started the day off well getting a nice win and then the freshmen competed really well.”
Gerstner said it’s been an enjoyable season despite the fact there were nights where only one game was played when the teams had to combine when the opponent didn’t have enough players.
“These guys are fun to coach and I know the coaches are excited about the progress that has been made throughout the season,” he said.
He added both teams have a lot of potential if they stick together and work hard during the offseason.
The games wrapped up the season for both teams.
