The McPherson Hospital Board of Trustees is pleased to announce administrative appointments at the hospital. Terri Gehring, serving as interim CEO since May of this year, has accepted an offer from the board to become the permanent president and CEO effective immediately.
Gehring brings over 35 years of experience at McPherson Hospital, with advancements through the health information management department before serving as chief operating officer for over 13 years.
Board of Trustees President Paul Taliaferro said Gehring is the right person at the right time. “Terri’s experience and breadth of knowledge of all hospital operations makes her the perfect person to lead us as we move forward. We are pleased that she has consented to lead the hospital in this role.”
“McPherson Hospital and our team are very special to me,” Gehring said. “I have enjoyed working alongside so many dedicated medical professionals over the years and look forward to continuing these relationships in this new role. I believe in our staff, I believe in our mission and vision, and am humbled by the vote of confidence the Board has shown in me.”
With Gehring’s move to CEO, she has announced that the vacancy in her former position will be filled by the current director of the hospital pharmacy and lab, John Worden. Worden joined the hospital as director of the pharmacy in 2007. He led initiatives that strengthened the pharmacy’s operational efficiencies, evidenced by their receipt of the national Best Practice Award by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) in 2012. Worden was selected to also serve as director of the hospital’s laboratory in 2013.
“John’s experience in clinical settings gives him the background needed for this position,” Gehring said. “We are proud of his accomplishments and look forward to his continued leadership.”
These two appointments complete the senior leadership team at the hospital. Over the summer, the vacant chief financial officer position was filled by George Kimbro. Kimbro is from Florida and brings extensive experience in all phases of hospital finances. Other leadership team members include Cathy Dunham, chief human resources officer, and Beth Worden, chief nursing officer.
