Elm Street Drainage Improvements: Bid Opening
Motion to approve the contract with Pearson Construction for the Elm Street Drainage Improvements for an amount not to exceed $491,354.00 and authorize the Mayor to sign all related documents.
We opened bids for the Elm Street Drainage Improvement project on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. We received 5 bids total. The low bid was received from Pearson Construction in the amount of $491,354.00. As you recall, Pearson Construction constructed the Avenue "A" project Phase I and will construct Phase II. The Engineers estimate was $582,994.00. Two bids received were below the engineers' estimate and three were over the engineers' estimate. That is a pretty good indication that the estimate was valid. I recommend we award the contract to Pearson Construction.
Street Department: Pallet of Crack Sealant Material
Motion to approve payment to PMSI, Wichita, KS, for an amount not to exceed $1,200.00 for one additional pallet of crack sealant material.
On Oct 30, 2017, the Commission approved $12,000 for 2 weeks rental of the crack sealant machine and 8 pallets of material. We used the 8 pallets and still had 1-1/2 days left for the rental, and more areas that need to be sealed. Therefore, we ordered an additional pallet of crack sealant material.
Flory Ditch Project (Phase I): Change Order #2 (Prairieland Works)
Motion to approve Change Order #2 for a decrease of $425.00 on the Flory Ditch (Phase I) Project, reducing the amount of silt fence and changing the project from calendar days to working days and authorize the Mayor to sign the Change Order.
Attached please find Change Order #2 for the Flory ditch project. This Change Order changes the project from 69 calendar days to 60 working days. We are changing to working days to better accommodate the Contractor's schedule. This Change Order also reduces the amount of silt fence and straw wattles not needed for the project.
Work is scheduled to begin in the Barnstormers/Premier subdivisions starting today.
