Maize South’s seventh-grade girls spoiled McPherson’s home debut on Thursday with a 29-17 victory.
Alexis Dukes led MMS with 7 points.
“This was much different from our first game,” MMS coach Kaleigh Troxell said. “The Maize South team was tall and skilled, but the girls fought the entire game. We had girls playing great defense, taking charges and scoring in ways we have not seen until this point. Although this game did not end in our favor, it gave me great hope for the future of this team.”
There was no B-game.
MMS goes to Goddard Eisenhower on Monday.
MMS (17) — Dukes 7, Sears 5, Lang 2, Kynaston 2. One point not accounted for.
