PLAINVIEW, Texas — Central Christian College’s Devontae Fitzgerald took first place in the 149-pound weight class this weekend in the Wayland Baptist Invitational.
He became the first Tiger in the two-year history of the program to win a tournament title.
Terrell Banuelos was second in the 133-pound class.
Also picking up wins on the weekend were David Taylor in the 165-pound class and Garret Gibson at 197.
“We're getting better, but we have a lot of work to do,” CCC coach Tom Carr said.
Central will be hosting its first-ever dual match at 7 p.m. Friday against Cloud County, which features Austin Eldredge, a state champion for McPherson High last year at 138 pounds.
