Salina Lakewood outlasted McPherson’s seventh-grade girls in a pair of basketball games here Monday.
The Bullpups lost the A-game 26-15, with Jordan Sears leading the charge with 6 points.
“I was very proud of the way the girls played,” MMS coach Kaleigh Huxman said. “We scored in ways I have not seen so far this season, so that was encouraging. We played multiple defenses and the girls really adjusted. Ella Buschbom was exceptional on both ends of the floor. We are looking forward to a nice Christmas break and then continuing to get better through the end of the season.”
The B-team lost 16-6 as three players scored 2 points each.
“We are very proud of the girls and the effort they gave,” MMS coach TJ Jackson said. “In the end we know as a team we struggle with making shots and that is going to take practice. Other than that we couldn't complain about their effort or hustle during the game. They played very aggressive defense and as a whole team it is fun watching each individual girl really improve skills.”
