McPherson High’s wrestling team has re-emerged in the Class 4A state rankings by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association.

The Bullpups started the year at No. 9, but then after a tremendous start they strangely fell out of the rankings last week.

But they’re back in this week at No. 8, even though they have beaten No. 4 Tonganoxie in a head-to-head match and are 10-1 in dual matches. Also, they finished ahead of No. 6 Abilene in the Cowboys’ invitational last week.

Preseason favorite Arkansas City has done nothing to dissuade voters as it remains No. 1, followed by Andover Central, Bonner Springs, Tonganoxie and El Dorado.

Abilene headlines the second five, followed by Marysville, MHS, Paola and Basehor-Linwood.

MHS’ Rhett Edmonson is ranked No. 2 at 120 pounds, while Scott Radke is No. 3 at 152. Both are undefeated on the year. Also ranked for MHS ise Brynton Crews at 138 (No. 5).
