SALINA — The offense for the McPherson College women apparently was still on Christmas break at the start of their game Friday with Sooner Athletic Conference power University of Science and Arts in the first round of the Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Classic.
The Bulldogs were down 11-0 before they ever knew what hit them and they could never recover in an 83-55 loss to the Drovers, now 9-2 on the season.
Mac, now 9-5, trailed 24-11 after a quarter and made only one basket in the second quarter as it trailed 37-17 at the break.
The Bulldogs did show their normal production in the second half with 38 points but the Drovers were relentless offensively with 46.
Mac shot only 29 percent for the game, including 3 of 23 from 3-point. Brooklyn Coe scored 13 points to lead the way, while Brittany Roberts and Kristina Battle came off the bench for 10 apiece. Leading scorer Sonerka White was held to 6 and Cami Richardson was held scoreless.
The Bulldogs are right back in action today in the Classic as they take on Doane of Nebraska at noon. Doane was edged 71-70 by Kansas Wesleyan in Friday’s other game. Mac returns to KCAC action on Wednesday taking on Wesleyan in this same gym.
