SALINA — McPherson College’s women came away with a pair of basketball losses in the Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Classic, but they also came away feeling more comfortable about playing in the Mabee Arena, which they return to for their next game on Wednesday against Kansas Wesleyan.

The Bulldogs and Doane University were tied at 33-all at the half on Saturday, but the Tigers dominated the second half for a 76-63 victory.

Mac is now 9-6 on the year, 1-6 on the road.

Doane took command in the third quarter by outscoring the Bulldogs 23-15 and then tacked on 20 points for good measure in the final period.

A bright spot in the loss for Mac was the play of freshman Brittany Roberts, who totaled 17 points off the bench, making 8 of 12 shots from the floor. Sonerka White added 16.

The Bulldogs were haunted at the foul line, making just 15 of 30. Cami Richardson led in rebounding with 8, while White had 4 steals.

Mac had no answer for McKenna Dodd, who was on fire with 28 points, including 8 of 8 at the foul line.

The Bulldogs take a 5-3 KCAC record into Wednesday’s game at Kansas Wesleyan, which is also 5-3. The teams are tied for fifth place.
