Hesston was the only McPherson area basketball team in action on Tuesday and it was a successful night for the Swathers against Pratt.
The Hesston boys scored 19 points in back-to-back quarters to key a 56-40 victory. Hesston used a 19-point second quarter to open up a 29-20 halftime lead, then widened the gap with another 19-point salvo in the third.
Reese Nebel fired in 18 points to lead the Swathers, while Cameron Cox chipped in with 10. There was nice balance as nine Swathers scored.
The Hesston girls doubled up Pratt 24-12 in the first half and rode that advantage to a 50-40 victory.
The Swathers’ Elise Kaiser was on fire from 3-point by making 5 and finished the game with 20 points.
Kailey Jo Ince provided the inside play with 12 points.
The rest of the area teams return to play on Friday.
