LINDSBORG — Dr. Walden R. Peterson, 89, of Lindsborg, died at the Lindsborg Community Hospital on February 15, 2021. He practiced general dentistry in Lindsborg for 46 ½ years.
Dr. Peterson was born on the family farm near Dresden, Kansas on November 30, 1931, the son of Raynold G. and Elsa A. (Holmdahl) Peterson. The family moved to Marquette when Walden was 7 years old. He is a graduate of Marquette High School, North Park Junior College, Chicago, Bethany College class of 1954, and UMKC School of Dentistry, Kansas City in 1958.
He was a faithful member of the Lindsborg Evangelical Covenant Church serving in many capacities. He was a thoughtful, quiet-spoken man of deep faith.
Dr. Peterson was part of the USD 400 School Board for 16 years, serving as president for 6 years.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth A. (Johnson); sons, Mark Walden Peterson (Joyce), Lindsborg, KS and Ralph Raynold Peterson (Susan), Billings, MT; daughter-in- law, Dr. Michelle Klem, Denver, CO; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, plus numerous other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Dale Eldon Peterson, brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Lois Peterson, step-father, Elston Thelander, and step-brother, Klinton Thelander.
Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 29, at the Lindsborg Covenant Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the church or the Lindsborg Community Hospital in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
