LITTLE RIVER — Charlie S. Kriewald, 99, of Little River, KS and formerly of Ord, NE, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, 4 days short of his 100th birthday at Sandstone Heights, Little River. Charlie was a retired carpenter and contractor, owning and operating Kriewald Construction for over 30 years in Ord, Nebraska.
Charlie was born June 12, 1921, in Greeley County, NE, the son of August William Carl and Myrtle (Schauer) Kriewald. He was united in marriage to Lena Winifred Craig. This union was blessed with two children, Charlie “Ron” and Patricia. Lena preceded Charlie in death in 2003.
Charlie was a Shriner and Mason in Ord, NE. He also was a volunteer fireman and Deputy Sheriff of Valley County, NE. He initiated church services at the Magic Valley Park in Weslaco, TX. Within recent years, he enjoyed being part of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church congregation in Lyons, KS and was thankful for the friends who took him to church. Charlie loved the Lord and read the Bible daily.
In 1951, Charlie built a Minnesota lake cabin that is still in the family. He enjoyed spending 41 years of winter in Texas.
Survivors include: two children, Charlie “Ron” Kriewald and wife, Kathy, of Nisswa, MN and Patricia “Pat” Kriewald of Ord, NE; three grandchildren, Robyn Victoria (Tony), Roxanne Thomas (Jeff), and Ryan Kriewald (Cari); four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, August “Bud” Kriewald and Beckie Kriewald Bixby.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Lyons, KS.
