Mary Lou Schmidt, 90, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, surrounded by family at Angel Arms Assisted Living, McPherson.  She worked at Winslow Accounting as a bookkeeper, B.W. Jones & Sons School Bus Service where she was a driver and dispatcher, and for Sterling Drug on the production line.

Mary Lou was born on December 8, 1930, in Meade, KS, the daughter of Loren Herbert and Ola Edmona (Taylor) Stratton.   She graduated from St. John (KS) High School in 1948.  On December 12, 1953, Mary Lou married Harvey H. Schmidt in Abilene, KS, and together they raised three children. Harvey preceded Mary Lou in death on May 22, 2013.

She was a member of First Church of God, Hutchinson.

Survivors include: three children, Linda Gilham (Dan) of Belle Plains, KS, Terry Schmidt (Debra) of Lawrence, KS, and Tim Schmidt (Roxanne) of McPherson, KS; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers, Edgar, Herb and Harold Stratton.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 28, at McPherson Cemetery.
