WINFIELD – McPherson High’s JV football team excelled in all phases of the game on Monday to blank Winfield, 32-0.

The Bullpups’ defense got the game started right with a safety.

Also during a 16-0 first quarter, Jayce Schriner ran 5 yards for a TD, while Hadlee Backhus went up top to Gunner Schumacher for a 20-yard score, with Schriner adding a 2-pointer.

In the second period, Schriner ripped off a 7-yard TD run and then added the 2-pointer. Backhus and Schumacher hooked up again, this time from 50 yards, with Schriner adding yet another 2-pointer for a 32-0 halftime lead.

Madden Luttig forced a fumble and also came up with an interception. Caden Burris had a fumble recovery while Treyton Pelnar and Kale French also had picks.
