The January blues continued for Central Christian College’s men’s basketball team here Thursday.

After taking a 10-3 record into the Christmas break, the Tigers are now 0-4 in January after a 90-78 loss to Mid-America Christian University in Alexander Arena at Pyle Complex.

The first half told the story as the Evangels raced to a 47-36 halftime lead before the teams played on practically even terms in the second half.

The Tigers did have good balance with 4 players in double figures, led by Isaiah Rivera with 20 points. Kenzell Williams had his best game of the year with 17, making 7 of 8 shots from the field. Darrell Bryant came off the bench with 13 and Reece Warren tallied 10.

Isaiah Hammons scored 20 to lead the Evangels.

Central has slid to 4-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and is now 10-7 overall. The Tigers take to the road on Saturday to play Southwestern Christian.

MID-AMERICA WOMEN 60, CENTRAL 26 – The Tigers weren’t bad defensively in their first game in a couple of weeks due to COVID, but they scored in single digits in 3 of the 4 quarters, including back-to-back 2-point quarters.

CCC fell to 0-10 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and 1-16 overall as it heads to Southwestern Christian on Saturday.

The Tigers had 7 available players, led by Eryn Turner with 9 points.
